EXHIBIT OF AMBITION: Bishme Cromartie

One of my most profound memories of my childhood is when I was introduced to the world of glamour & high fashion at the age of 7. Growing up in east Baltimore, 25th St. & Guilford Ave., my sister and I had a friend named Bishme who lived around the corner. We would always find ourselves having fun designing clothes for our dolls. Bishme was always into fashion and over the years he explored every step there is to making it big in the fashion Industry. Check him out now at http://bishmercromartie.com/.

EXHIBIT OF AMBITION: Defining Style/Fashion Spotlight (Female) Week #4

If you haven't heard of or seen Rekik Neway a.k.a The Dopest Ethiopian, I would like to introduce you a Unique Fashionista. Not only her style, but her personality is rare and stands out in every shoot that comes her way. Her style most definitely comes from her daily living and originates from her mind. Her beauty is the key of her success. How she dress depends on her mood, the day, etc. She's very much into basics and casuals with a touch of edge. "I'm pretty big on fashion just not the whole, "they're wearing it, now I wanna wear it, type of fashion." I love individuality!"

1. What would you describe your style as?

I think I would describe my style as versatile. My style jumps from sweatshirt and pants to bows, jean jackets, and vintage shirts. I love vintage things in general! (Lol)

2. What is the most important part of clothing to you that stands out the most?

My cross necklace. I've worn it everyday for 2 years now and that's what everyone knows me by basically :)  I love it!

 Inspirational Talk with: Polo Kerber

What makes your connection with fashion so powerful?

When i was in high school I'm sure just like everyone else, I wore those 5x tees, and baggy jeans..I just fit along with the crowd. What everyone wore WAS my fashion. I didnt know what was IN or how to dress...I guess the power now comes from being so embarrassed from my past and trying to make up for how bad i looked back then. haha

Is your style something that's effortless, or planned out?

When I first started getting into "style" I'd plan it out...not knowing how to put things together or buying EXACTLY what was on the mannequin. Now I just wake up and can put things together without thinking.

Are there any underground designers that you want to inform world about?

Well, I'd say myself (cough cough). You know, I design clothes for a company in New york City called Fresh Club Kingdom LLC. They Actually just gave me an investment to start my own line so im excited about that. I can't really tell you the name yet, though.

How would you define your personal style?

My Personal style is a trendy, hipster look but I try to make myself look different or add my own flare. For example, I refuse to wear Jordans.

At what moment in your life did you notice that you were really into fashion/music?

I Used to work at aeropostale, HATED that job! I was desperate to leave and I found an opening at Forever 21. Working there being so hands on with the clothes and being around fashion majors and merchandisers...I got into it.

What are your inspirations in fashion ?

Im not sure what inspirations I use. I get alot of looks or ideas from Tumblr, believe it or not. Just scrolling through my dash gives me SO many ideas.

EXHIBIT OF AMBITION: Defining Style/Fashion Spotlight (Female) Week #2

This week's D.O.S/F.S (Definition of Style/ Fashion Spotlight) female is Baitong Namasonth a.k.a PRETTYICKLY hailing all the way from Reading, England. People can only see her personal developments on the outside by her style of the clothes she wears on a daily basis. She doesn't believes that you should dress to be 'different', and to prove people that you're unique. Style comes from self expression, it should be the mirror of your inner being, your happiness, your sadness, your problems and your love. Your style should not be 'mask'. Her style changes with every learning experience that comes her way. Besides that, Her certain taste of clothes are affected by her emotions, sometimes several times a day. Music has a enormous impact on her emotions, whereby it has on her style. This means her style can never be labelled on a long-term period. It's like a never ending roller-coaster, starting with a vibe, changing on every turn, increasing and declining by emotions, music, and people until it returns back to the same place and starts all over again.

1. What would you describe your style as?

I see my style as experimental, dress up and an art piece. I hate sticking with one style so I tend to mix everything up, that why I love playing dress up.

2. What is the most important part of clothing to you that stands out the most?

Probably everything, every piece should compliment each other and should also compliment your mood. You only also get a one chance to make the first impression and thats also the last. So whatever your wearing, gotta be equal.

EXHIBIT OF AMBITION: NYané x Mpho

A few months ago, I came acrossed two gorgeous fashonistas and were determined to get to know them. Not every girl can bond their style with the lens of a camera. These two ambitionist happen to be twins who's names are NYané and Mpho. They create an image of true ART that gives a strong meaning and understanding to others. Their style is influenced & inspired from the 60's ,70's, 80's era bringing back the unique feeling and fun into fashion. NYané and Mpho, both carry a wide range of vintage peices as well sale. Do check out their work at http://nyane-mpho.tumblr.com/.

Halle: Hey, how's it going? I really appreciate you taking the time out to have this interview for HOME OF THE AMBITIONST. Seen a couple of your photographs expressing your glorious, vintage, sense of fashion, and they are truly amazing. Why don't you divas let us know who's NYané & Mpho?

NYané & Mpho: We are twins, Mpho (dark long hair) and NYane (short light hair). Mpho being the oldest by 2 minutes. We are 17 years old, soon to be 18 in March. We're South African but we were born in Middlesborough. We also lived in Wales for 6 years before we moved to Southampton where we now live.

Halle: How would you describe your sense of fashion and taste in music? Tell us, how does the two connect?

NYané & Mpho: Our fashion sense is mainly influenced by the different music we listen to. I (Mpho) am into indie/folk/alternative music with artists such as Angus and Julia Stone, Foster The People and Washed Out. NYane's into 80's/90's music with artists like Grace Jones, Madonna and Janet Jackson. This then impacts on the way we dress, as it sort of sets the mood we're in, therefore we just dress accordingly to how we feel at the time.

Halle: Although you two are twins, I would like my viewers to know how you two are different, as well as very similar.

NYané & Mpho: We have been interested in fashion from a very young age as we would customize our clothing and all sorts, so we thought designing would be the right path for us. We study textiles in college so this helps enhance our creativity. Though our tastes are very different NYane being into more grunge/leather fabrics and I'm into more softer colors we just sort of meet halfway and merge our ideas together.

Halle: As far as a collaboration for selling your vintage pieces, How did everything come about?

NYané & Mpho: The idea of selling vintage pieces came about as a number of people on tumblr kept asking where we got our clothes from. So we thought we'd do a bit of market research to see what type of pieces people would be interested in buying, then we'd purchase them from our local thrift stores and sell them.

Halle: You girls are true ambitionist! :) What are the goals and ambitions for 2012?

NYané & Mpho: Our ambitions for 2012 would be to pursue careers in fashion and just hopefully get ourselves out there in the industry, and focus on our creativity.

Halle: That's great! Well keep doing what your doing. I'm sure great blessings will come your way. Appreciate the love and will be looking forward to more of your success throughout this new year! :)
